Prayers, Poetry, Prose and Peace

Jodie is a writer, speaker, poet and mother. An unashamed words girl who writes to process the myriad of experiences of life.

In her writing and on her blog she investigates the journey of life: the beautiful; the painful; the everyday; and the mundane. She has a heart for encouraging women on their life journey, particularly when that journey traverses the harder places of grief and pain.

Jodie writes candidly about her own personal grief, sharing her insights as a way of opening the way for healing.

Jodie has three books available:

Grace & Space: Prayers of Peace for Everyday Life

In a world that constantly demands our attention and continually asks us to move faster, Jodie McCarthy found herself craving a quieter more contemplative way of living. One focused on God’s pace of life, and his priorities.

Life often takes unexpected twists and turns and in the midst of uncertainty Jodie has found grounding in prayer. These prayers were written from that truth and cover many stages of our everyday life.

She looks at the excitement and trepidation of new beginnings; the mundane yet sometimes beautiful daily routine; the pain of those times of unravelling; and the beauty of grace and space that is gifted to us in every part of our lives.

Released on 6th December 2020 and available now here

Beauty in the Ashes: Learning to Lament

In July 2019, she released her book, Beauty in the Ashes: Learning to Lament. Through her reflection, poems, and sharing stories of pain and loss, Jodie invites you to discover the importance of lament; and how the hurt and the healing are intertwined.

Blank Pages

In 2012, Jodie published Blank Pages; a book of poetry. These poems chronicle her journey through the pain of infertility and miscarriage.

Based in Perth, Western Australia, Jodie is the mother of two spirited school-aged girls, and has been married for over twenty years to Simon.

She loves alliteration, she hates writing in third person, and she can never give up chocolate (not even for Lent)!
